In the autum of 2025 the life I had been building was hit by a big blow, when my right arm suddenly would not stop hurting - in an intensity that left me unable to do many things, but especially it put a stop on my work as a self employed cleaner.

I had no idea what to do about money and did the only thing my arm allowed me to do: I started sewing again. I had learned to sew patchwork items decades ago but had stopped all sewing when my child was born.

So without a plan and knowledge about marketing I dove in head first, without really knowing what I was doing or where this would lead me and I created Light of Bornholm.

And I learned a lot in that time - about different fabrics, sustainability, business stuff and most of all: about myself.

The loss of my autistic stepdad in the spring of 2026 rocked my boat again very severely and lead me to search for more meaning in life. My journey as a single mum with a neurodivergent child had taken all I had to give, but in the back of my mind I have carried two wishes with me for years:

It is my dream to create a space in nature where neurodivergent kids can learn how to let their guard down and be with other children, instead of at home in front of a screen. And I want to give other single mums with neurodivergent children the opportunity to take a free holiday.

And while I had been a dreamer all my life, I want to make these two dreams come true, with the help of this little business. Please join me on this journey - you can follow along through the blog and find the items I am selling in my shop.

Welcome to Bornholm!
